Is your horse eligible for the Show Cob class?

As the Search for a Star schedule does not have a height limit for the cob class there has been a lot of interest in the competition from owners of smaller cob type ponies. The height limit was removed when it was decided that maxi cobs could participate but the class remains for horses.

Even though height limits are not listed, a ‘Show Cob’ is a type of horse not pony and it must be ridden by the ride judge during the class. By definition as the ‘Show Cob’ is a horse and not a pony the animal must be over 14.2hh. More important than this, a show cob is a ‘type’ and the best of type on the day will win whether it is a maxi cob or a standard sized cob and the horse must be large enough to be ridden by the judge.
