A competition for amateur riders and owners to show their top class horses and ponies

WELCOME

Search for a Star was designed to give amateur riders and owners an opportunity to compete at the prestigious Horse of the Year Show and to identify top class horses and ponies which may otherwise not be given the opportunity to compete at this level. It is however, run by professionals and the standards imposed are identical to those applied to professionals.

One fundamental difference is that at HOYS the judges will use radio microphones to give their thoughts and explain their decisions and at the qualifiers the competitors will have a chance to talk to the judges to find out where they went right and wrong.

The competition has gone from strength to strength and the standards have steadily improved so that it is now one of the most closely followed competitions at Horse of the Year Show.

The horses and riders that qualify for Horse of the Year Show are invited to attend a training workshop to help prepare for the big occasion.

PASSPORT CHECKS
Owners intending to enter the SEIB Search for q Star showing series this year should check that their horse’s passport is up to date with the owner’s details, and that the correct owner is declared on the entry form. As part of their drive to ensure eligibility of horses, the organisers must see every qualified horse’s passport on the day of the qualifier and anyone unable to comply will not be invited to compete at HOYS.

PLEASE CHECK YOUR PASSPORTS
Competitors that are awarded a HOYS ticket in qualifying events will be required to present their horse’s valid passport to the secretary to complete their eligibility for HOYS. A valid passport must show the current owner’s name and address as entered on the SFAS entry form, and the owners details must have been verified by the Passport Issuing Office (PIO), ie the details must be over stamped by the PIO. Please also bring a photocopy to leave with the secretary.
